Miami luxury real estate mega team The Riley Smith Group announced on Friday that it is moving from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty to Compass. The team is led by founder Riley Smith, who started the team 17 years ago at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty.
“Riley’s consistent success, extensive experience, and people-first focus are characteristics that align with the high standards and level of service Compass provides,” Kim Harris Campbell, the president of the Southeast Region for Compass, said in a statement.
Smith’s team is the No. 7 mega team in Florida by sales volume, according to RealTrends 2022 rankings, generating $295.6 million in sales volume in 2021.
“Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty have been amazing for me in my career and certainly helped me every step of the way for the last 17 years to get where I am today,” Smith said. “The move is really about looking to the future, as we look to get some new energy, new people and new technology into our world that will help up going forward.”
Smith said that his entire team, which consists of 30 agents and four support staff, will be moving to Compass.
“Compass’ technology is certainly something that we have been looking at for a long time and I think it has only gotten better since I started talking with them,” Smith said. “I think it is a really valuable tool for our agents, so we can continue to compete with everyone out there.”
Smith also cited Compass’ “agent friendly attitude” as another motivating factor for the move.
With The Riley Smith Group’s move to Compass, all of the Miami-based mega teams ranked by RealTrend in 2022 are now part of Compass.
“We have been sitting back and watching how all of those teams got integrated into Compass and just seeing how their success has grown,” Smith said. “I also feel that at this point in time we are looking for collaboration and team building and I feel that Compass really encourages that.”
